Therefore, avoid using the following phrases at work. “That is not my job, ” “I don’t get paid to do this,” or “This is not my problem.” Using these phrases will leave a negative effect on the other person. If you really don’t have time to do the task or you believe someone else is better suited for that task, then you can recommend that person explaining the reason. “This is not within my scope of work. I believe s/he is better suited for this task because ….” or “I can help. I am currently working on X and Y. Which one should I place on hold while I am working on this new task?
